Jesuit Social Services

Vision, Mission, Values

Vision

Our vision of building a just society leads us to work with those most in need, where others are not in a position to respond and where we can make a real, sustainable difference.

Our belief in the inherent dignity of every person, lies at the core of our commitment to building a just society and guides how we work.

The intention that we bring to our work leads us to see the opportunity and potential in circumstances and people that others often do not.

The approach that we take to our work helps make sure that we are respectful and responsive in how we work with others.

Mission

Standing in solidarity with those in need, expressing a faith that promotes justice.

Our work comes out of the Ignatian and Jesuit tradition and draws on Catholic Social Teaching.

  • We act in a way that is grounded in and reflects a faith that promotes justice and a belief in the dignity of every person.
  • We seek to reflect those values and behaviours in all that we do.
  • We strengthen and build respectful relationships with others.
  • We act in a way that respects the value of creation and the environment in which we live.

Values

In all we do we strive to be:

Welcoming

We intentionally seek God (the good) in all things and in so doing automatically bring an open, respectful, strengths based approach to our work.

Discerning

We take into account the context in which we work and the experience that we and others bring when determining what we should do and we use a reflective process to guide and inform our actions.

Courageous

We work where the need is most great and where we are likely to help deliver an outcome that is broad reaching and enduring.
