Michael Gourlay joined Jesuit Social Services as Policy Director in April 2008 after 10 years as the Chief Executive Officer of the Association for Children with a Disability. His work at the Association for Children with a Disability included the establishment of the Australian Association for Families of Children with a Disability (AAFCD), a national advocacy organisation for families of children with a disability.
Michael’s professional background is in social work. His career includes stints as the CEO of a Family Resource Centre in Melbourne’s outer northern suburbs and as a Policy Officer with the Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) where he specialised in policy and advocacy work relating to poverty, taxation and inequality in the distribution of income, wealth and life-chances.
