Amanda Watkinson joins Jesuit Social Services as Program Director, Brosnan Youth Services. She has extensive experience working in Government, the community sector, academia and a range of positions in the Aboriginal community sector. Most recently she has been a lecturer in the social sciences at RMIT. Amanda has direct experience of managing programs for at-risk young people in both government and community settings. This includes her time as: Coordinator Children and Family Services team, Department of Community and Health Services Tasmania; Program Coordinator Youth and Family Services, Department of Human Services Victoria; Manager of Young Persons and Family Services, YWCA of Dandenong and Western Port; Koori health worker, Victorian Aboriginal Health Centre. Other positions Amanda has held include: Policy Officer, Office of Aboriginal Affairs Victoria; Executive Manager, Ministerial Council on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs; Senior Research, Policy and Project Analyst, Office of Youth Affairs & Family, Tasmania. In these roles, Amanda gained extensive experience in developing legislation and policy, and implementing programs. Amanda has a strong commitment to social justice, human rights, community engagement and working in collaboration with people and organisations. Amanda has a BA (Youth Work), a Masters of Public Sector Management and is currently completing her PhD in Global Studies. |
