Jesuit Volunteers Australia seeks to attract volunteers with the maturity and capacity to both:

a. regularly engage with people on the margins, and

b. commit to a process of reflection on that experience.

Under the Jesuit Volunteers Australia program, volunteers are asked to spend a significant number of hours per month (depending on local needs) engaged in service to the marginalised and disadvantaged.

The volunteers come from all walks of life and may volunteer in a vast array of services with Jesuit and non- Jesuit Ministries. These include: houses of welcome, drop-in centres for the homeless, advocacy centres, tutoring services for refugees, palliative care centres.

If you are already working in direct contact with disadvantaged people and would like the opportunity to reflect upon your experience please consider joing Jesuit Volunteers Australia.

The program currently exists in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. A Coordinator has been appointed in each of these cities to support volunteers in finding suitable placements and coordinate the regular reflections. We encourage you to contact your local coordinator if you are interested in becoming a JVA volunteer, or would like some more information on this program.

All volunteers will need to complete a Working With Children check and consent to a Police Criminal Records check. If you have a current Working With Children card a copy will be required.
