The Gateway Kitchen offers young people the chance to work with well-known Melbourne chefs in a vibrant new cooking school and catering operation.
Participants learn skills in cooking, waiting, food preparation and handling,
hospitality and marketing. Operating as a catering business, the Gateway Kitchen
offers a diverse range of cooking and hospitality experiences that will lead
towards further training in this area. The Gateway Kitchen catersfor external
businesses, community groups and local businesses, and young
people can be involved in all aspects of this new business venture. The
commercial kitchen facility also offers young people the opportunity to
develop their interest in cooking, and acquire skills and achieve qualifications
in the hospitality and catering industry, while gaining real work experience.

The units of competency offered through the Program, through a Memorandum
of Understanding William Angliss Institute of TAFE, include:

The Gateway Kitchen also offers the opportunity of being involved in the
production of Abbotsford Biscuits - quality, hand-made biscuits distributed on a
national basis.
