Just Leadership Breakfast series launched in Perth
Tim Costello, the guest speaker for the event, spoke to an eager audience of around 100 people from business, government and community on the theme of Just Success: Rising to the challenge, as individuals and organisations, of building a more just and inclusive society. After talking about his own formation as a leader for justice, Tim challenged guests to think differently about the path to success. “The words Just Leadership throw up for me a different kind of ladder; a ladder called vocation. Paraphasing Frederick Buechner, Tim suggested that “vocation is where your bliss intersects with the world’s need”. He went on to say “I think a calling is for each and every human being ....” and invited those present to build their capacity as a cross-sector community of social leaders. In a Just Leadership luncheon at Bankwest later that day, attended by a selected group of senior executives from Bankwest, Western Power and two not for profit organisations, Tim issued a challenge to think about 'fault lines' in the community, and spoke of the need to invest in developing a cross sector group young leaders as a core strategy in building a more just society in Western Australia. Tim indicated his willingness to 'get behind' any such initiative.
