About Us

Holy Family Parish is a unique and vibrant parish in Mount Druitt, Western Sydney. The Parish has a strong history as a place of welcome, offering a wide range of pastoral, education and social services.

Holy Family Parish invited Jesuit Social Services to work with them to strengthen their capacity to respond to local needs.

Through this partnership, Holy Family Social Services, we are addressing entrenched disadvantage in one of Australia's most underprivileged urban communities. Mount Druitt was developed as a public housing estate from the mid 1960's. It has come to be characterised by:

• Low educational attainment
• High levels of unemployment
• Low household income
• High crime rates
• Significant disadvantage

A number of local residents struggle to provide for their families and to manage mental and physical health problems. They find that the pathway to employment is just too difficult. For them a new approach is needed. 

Holy Family Social Services focuses on building people's capacity to participate in the community.

Holy Family Social Services:

• Provides local families with affordable, quality clothing and healthy food
• Generates employment readiness through the provision of accredited, work-based training
• Creates paid employment and small business opportunities
• Develop self-funding and sustainable social enterprises
• Increases local facilities and promotes social inclusion through the community Café
• Provides parenting support and nutrition programs
• Facilitates youth mentoring.
